Lesson Planning Workshop
Plan with purpose and earn 3 DCDEE credit hours
A thoughtful lesson plan helps teachers turn goals into meaningful daily experiences. In early childhood settings, planning supports routines, encourages engagement, and helps children learn through play, discovery, movement, language, and relationships. It also helps educators stay organized, use time well, and create activities that match each child’s stage of development. Research from the National Association for the Education of Young Children highlights the value of intentional planning and developmentally appropriate practice in supporting positive outcomes for young learners.
This in-person workshop is designed for early childhood educators who want practical planning tools they can use right away. Participants will collaborate with other teachers, share ideas, and build lesson plans that support a strong start to the school year.
Why It Matters
Lesson planning gives teachers a clear path for the day while creating space for flexibility and responsive teaching. Children benefit from experiences that are purposeful, engaging, and connected to their interests and needs. Planning also helps educators prepare materials in advance, guide transitions smoothly, and include opportunities for observation and assessment.
When classrooms run with intention, children gain more opportunities to build language, problem-solving, social skills, and confidence through everyday learning experiences.
